New Year more films part ii

Sooo the 4th film I watched this year was 'Deep End 1970' my friend Matt was watching it and Id thought id give it a go. An odd one in that psycho sexual uncomfortable genre which I must admit love so much. Its about a young boy he's seventeen and begins working in a local swimming bars and falls in love with a women who works there who's engaged and will do anything to ruin their relationship, don't get me wrong she plays her part too intact I think she's even warped than the boy. I find it so weird when I watch these films that without the internet people even made films so warped with such feelings that I can relate to and enjoy watching. A disturbing but altogether an enjoyable film to watch and pretty hilarious too.

Again if you know me you know that I love the swimming pool aesthetic in films and photographs and green tones in films its used pretty frequently in films within the seventies with neutral tones and within their colour palettes.

I watched Chet Bakers biopic film called 'Lets Get Lost' its pretty self explanatory really its about his life and interviews people have given about him and so you kinda get a feel for what kind of person he was I really enjoyed it as I love his music also.

I watched 'Midnight Cowboy' I asked for it for christmas and wow was this a heavy film to watch. Again for the time the shots are absolutely out of this world and there aren't enough credit or film stills not he internet to show you how beautifully deep this film was. Cinematically its excellence is beyond this world. I had a hard time finding out what happened to him as a child, Im sure he suffered from some child hood trauma. Im pretty sure it was something sexual and then later in life involving his girlfriend I believe.

I was ill when watching this So I was having a hard time on concentrating. The dialogue and story line was so intriguing. I adore dustin Hoffman although I wanted to throttle his character, I just couldn't stand him. I got so frustrated with Jon Voight's character. It was incredible noticing Jolie's facial expressions too and where she gets her incredible ability from. His character was so fragile and child like yet and so complex at the same time. I loved all the characters and costumes throughout the film the set design and soundtrack absolutely out of this world. So much love for the whole anatomy of this film and definitely had a psycho sexual tension to it also.

Films this year so Far

1ST PoSt of NeW yEaR

Okay so my New Year resolution is to write down every film Ive watched this year, i have already five days in watched twelve films so I just best keep watching. Im going to post them on here and write tiny snippets about them just to give you an idea and me in the future the films I have observed and enjoyed or even disliked a little.

1st film of the year was : 'Bronco Bullfrog'
I bought it and it cost me £12 and was debating whether this day an age of online streaming It was really necessary for me to spend so much money on over 2 hours of my work wage haha . I did I couldn't resist reading the back. I made my grandad watch parts of it and he showed me in the scenes where he use to deliver bread and round where he use to live being a propa cockney boy himself. I really enjoyed the film I love the way people use to speak and how it amazes me voices change over time and how cinema is really the only proof of that. Its a coming of age film about a boy called Dell and his mates and how he gets up to trouble and falls in love with a young girl.

2nd film was: 'Blow Up'

Wish I understood the significant of the mime yutes Im gonna have to research that.
David Hemmings really reminds me of Michael Pitt in this film both have amazing piercing blue eyes.

Directed by the infamous Michelangelo Antonioni who I indefinitely need to watch more films this year of as I've never really absorbed much of his work and by god and I'm regretful I haven't, know worries though I will have plenty of time too. The film starred the young Jane Birkin who is slightly unnoticeable and her the famous naked fight scene. The film is about a photographer who captures a murder in a park. The strange thing is when I was watching it I would pause whenever I saw street names to see where it was filmed and it was filmed not that far away in Greenwich some scenes.

3rd film was another by Michelangelo Antonioni also the famous 'Zabrinskie Point'

which soundtrack produced by Pink Floyd was super intense and the last scene ingenious and many of the scenes I realised were replicated in plenty of other mainstream movies 'yawn'. But other amazing directors like Xavier Dolan must have pulled influence from this film when all the clothes are exploding floating calmly through the air in his film but very closely shot like at the end of this film. I loved the colours and everything about.

It also stared the amazing Kathleen Cleaver, I always wonder how Antonioni cast's his actors.

Ive been gone, but watching more films than ever

Update some films I have been watching

I can't remember the last time I wrote on here but Ive been working till 8 and 10 next week because of the Christmas period. I have watched so many films you wouldn't believe I probably can't remember half of them :/

I went to see Gasper Noe's 'Love' premier at the Curzon and it was beautiful I loved the neon colours and the music and cinematography was spectacular as always. It was everything and more and the 3D was fucking insane to the max.

I also watched 'Carol' and as always watching Todd Haynes films I feel like I'm watching through a doll house window into warped suburban lives but the most beautifully shot and polished ones of course. I love many of his films how unexpected they are and how the characters persona's are so contrary to what you believe they are like before watching.

I loved how the roles were reversed in 'Carol' and how Cate Blanchett's character seemed to hold the power over her relationship with her husband even though within society in the 50's he would have been. Brilliant story line colours and costumes so spectacular.

Brooklyn was really good It felt like had waited over two years to watch this film and although it was beautiful I just wanted a little more. I wanted it to be longer and to see more of Tony as one of my favourite scenes was with Alish meeting his family his character was by far my favourite I found Saorise's character frustrating I wanted her to sass up a bit when she met Tony. I wasn't completely satisfied with the ending again I think it was because I wanted to see how Alish and Tony built there lives together.

It made me think deeply about how hard it was for women and how it is for some in certain countries now. It kind of made me mourn for them and the situations they and to go through in order to build lives for theme selves for the better and leave there lives behind.

I watched 'Crimson Peak'  after the longest wait ever I absolutely adore Guillermo Tel Toro and am excited to saying I'm getting the book of the film with all his beautiful stills. I absolutely loved the set design and costumes they were exquisite I loved Mia's belt with the two clutching hands int he scene where her and Jessica are with the butterflies dying. I don't want to tell you much about it as I'm thinking of reviewing it soon. Tom Hiddleston's character was one of my favourites I was so conflicted in whether I liked him or not (I did).

He gave a stunning performance and cannot wait for his films coming out next year is Hank Williams biopic and the J.G Ballard adaptation High-Rise. I just love his choice of film and how he puts his all into his transformation into his character.

I also recently watched 'The Room' and cried my whole entire water contents out of my body. I felt very dehydrated afterwards. I watched all the directors clips and interviews before the film and was very excited to watch it binging all the clips available. It really deserves so much recognition. There are so many Kidnapping films and hostage story lines but none like 'The Room'. In the majority of hostage films you just see them escaping and that's the end but that's just the beginning the whole formulae is completely mind boggling amazing. I love the transformation of the characters and how you see Jack adapt to seeing the real world for the first time. Such and incredible film with no fancy effects but pure beautiful shots and dialogue.

Will be posting more soon <3
