'Get Real'
'Get real' 1998 is an English film about a sixteen year old boy Steven Carter who goes to his local park to have quickies with older men. Until one day when he's in the hook up section of the park inside a toilet stall he starts passing a note through the other chamber, to meet outside and hook up with the person inside it. To his surprise its the schools gorgeous head boy John Dixon. He awkwardly approaches Steven and explains it was a mistake and claims he's not gay or dodgy which was really funny dialogue in the scene. Steven explains he is and they begin talking and becoming very fond of each other its clear that John begins to develop stronger feelings towards Steven. This becomes present when he See's him dancing with a girl at the school disco and follows him home and they sleep together (OMG best romantic scene ever).
I was so surprised of what a hidden gem of a film this was and that I cant praise it enough its a real shame its not well known. It should have at least been played on Film4 in the UK once but it hasn't unfortunately. His best friend Linda is girl who she frequently explains is on the larger side of life or in eyes enormous, she is really beautifully kind and hilarious. I wouldn't mind having her as a best friend to be honest her character was brilliant and very witty.
I don't want to spoil the film so I wont go on any further, but for sure now one of my many favourite lists of British cinema.
